Anyone who spends any time in front of a computer monitor knows that choosing the right screen is essential to productivity and the health of their eyes. Working for any length of time with anything less than the optimal monitor can result in eye strain and fatigue which can cause headaches and blurred. This is all the more true of professional designers who spend significant parts of their waking hours in front of computer monitors.
Reviews with a View to Designers’ Needs
The following reviews represent our attempt to find the top five best flat screen monitors for designers in terms not only of price but with respect to their performance as well. As such we will pay special attention to the anti-fatigue features of each of the monitors in question as it is perhaps this factor, more than any other, that is important to designers using computer aided software.
1. Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor
The top rated, flat screen monitor on the market at present is brought to you by the people at the computer powerhouse Dell. Of course, it must be said at the very outset that the Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor has earned the rave reviews it gets in no small part due to its spare-no-expense design. This monitor offers the best in terms of image quality and ant-fatigue, backlit LED technology but for a price most people would find hard to justify.
2. HP Pavilion 27 xi 27-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor
A close runner up to the Dell is the HP Pavilion 27 xi 27-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor. HP is a name that has come to be trusted almost as much as Dell in the realm of consumer electronics and with good reason because they consistently produce quality products at reasonable prices. All in all the reviews of this 27-inch model praise the screen for its great combination of size and resolution as well as its vibrant color display.
3. Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23″ IPS LED LCD Monitor
Number three in our list is also a Dell but this time there a few more caveats that prospect buyers need to be aware of before making the plunge. In general the display and resolution still received overwhelmingly positive responses but there were some notable cons as well. Perhaps the largest issue reviewers had with the monitor were the anti-glare hardcoat which creates a haziness when the background is white and the lack of HDMI connections.
4. Dell Computer E-Series E2414Hr 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor
The penultimate entry in the list is yet another LED lit Dell monitor. Reviewers gave this monitor solid ratings in terms of color and brightness but there was almost universal horror at the fact that the monitor comes with a VGA cable but lacks a DVI cable. All in all, however, the monitor was well-received and its single greatest selling point was its ultra-affordable price.
5. Viewsonic VP2365-LED 23-Inch Wide e-IPS LED Monitor (Black)
The Viewsonic VP2365-LED 23-Inch Wide e-IPS LED Monitor (Black) is the sole monitor reviewed in the top five that is not a Dell or HP and, while not exactly off-brand, it is easy to imagine that many peoples’ reviews were influenced by such a perception. Nonetheless, the overall ratings of this product seemed to be favorable with almost everyone stating that, while the Viewsonic may not be the Cadillac of monitors, it was dependable and provided good colors and resolution for the money.
